Salah has ended. What happens next? Lesson 6 “End of an Epic Journey,” closes the Y9 salah series, covering the salam, the adhkar after salah, and a full summary of the six-lesson journey.

This lesson covers,

The salam and its meaning are revisited from the previous lesson, with learners asked to identify who receives the greeting, why we feel shy or grateful after salah ends, and what it means to have just stood before Allah.

Seeking forgiveness immediately after salah is explored through the practice of our beloved Prophet ﷺ, with the lesson asking learners to reflect on why istighfar follows salah rather than celebration.

Two adhkar after salah taught in full: the declaration of tawhid from Sahih al-Bukhari affirming Allah’s sole sovereignty, praise, and power, and the duʿa from Abu Dawud asking Allah for help in dhikr, gratitude, and excellence in worship.

The adhkar of sajdah is presented in Arabic with a paired translation activity, in which learners declare that their face has prostrated to the One who created and shaped it, and split its hearing and sight, closing with praise of Allah as the best of creators.

A full summary activity draws together all six lessons, from preparation and wudu through to tashahhud, duʿa, and salam, with learners producing an infographic, mind-map, or poster covering every posture and its spiritual meaning.

Sujud is the closest a person gets to Allah. Lesson 5 of the Y9 salah series covers the final stretch of salah: from sajdah to salam.

This lesson covers,

Sujud explained as the greatest pillar of salah, grounded in Surah al-ʿAlaq (96:19), with learners asked to reflect on how it embodies complete servitude, why duʿa is accepted in this posture, and why the body should settle and not rush.

The duʿa between the two sajdahs is presented in Arabic with translation, رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي, with the lesson making clear this short repeated plea is not a formality but a moment of sincere request for forgiveness between two acts of prostration.

The tashahhud covered word by word, with al-tahiyyat, al-salawat, and al-tayyibat defined, the salam upon the Prophet ﷺ and the righteous servants explained, and the shahada placed at the heart of this closing declaration of salah.

The salawat on the Prophet ﷺ is taught with vocabulary, giving learners the meaning behind the words they send upon our beloved Prophet ﷺ at the end of every prayer.

Two duʿas after tashahhud are covered: the confession of wrongdoing asking Allah al-Ghafur al-Rahim for forgiveness from Himself, and the duʿa from Sahih Muslim seeking protection from the punishment of the fire, the grave, the trials of life and death, and the trial of al-Masih al-Dajjal.

Most learners know the movements of salah. This lesson asks what each one means. Lesson 4 from Y9 salah series moves through salah posture by posture, from preparation before the first takbir to standing up from ruku’, linking every physical act to the state of the heart that should accompany it.

This lesson covers,

Preparation before salah is covered as a spiritual act, including the intention behind wudu, dressing well for worship, facing the qiblah, and mentally reminding yourself of who you are about to address, before a single word of salah is spoken.

The takbir and qiyam are explained in depth: raising the hands as an act of surrender and pushing the dunya aside, Allahu Akbar as a statement of Allah’s greatness beyond all things, and standing with lowered gaze and right hand over left in a posture of devoted humility, grounded in Surah al-Baqarah (2:238).

The opening duʿa, isti’adhah, and basmalah are treated as three distinct spiritual acts: greeting and praising Allah, seeking protection from the one who wants to destroy the prayer, and opening with Bismillah as an act of seeking help and blessing from Allah alone.

Qur’an recitation and ruku’ are connected: reciting calmly with tajwid, hearing your own voice, pausing to reflect on what Allah is saying in Surah al-Fatihah, then moving into ruku’ as a strong symbol of submission, praising and glorifying Allah while humbling both the body and the heart simultaneously.

Standing up from ruku’ is presented through the adhkar of Sahih al-Bukhari, including the hadith of Rifaʿah ibn Rafiʿ in which the Prophet ﷺ described thirty-something angels racing to be first to record a companion’s words of praise, giving learners a reason to say these words with full attention.

Most of us know we should read the morning and evening adhkār. Fewer of us actually do. This session works through ten reasons grounded in the Qur’an and authentic Hadith, from fulfilling a direct command of Allah (33:41–42) to the narration in al-Tabarani that the one who preserves these adhkār may be among those granted the sight of Allah in Paradise. The rewards are significant, and the protection is broader than many realise: the session maps out eighteen categories of harm these adhkār guard against, from anxiety and envy to the punishment of the grave, and explains when and how to read them correctly.

This session covers:

Ten Qur’anic and Hadith-based reasons for reading the morning and evening adhkār, including forgiveness of sins, protection from Hell-fire, and the intercession of our beloved Prophet ﷺ

The full scope of protection these adhkār offer, covering eighteen categories of harm from debt and laziness to magic, evil jinn, and unexpected difficulties

The correct times for the adhkār (Fajr to sunrise for morning; ʿAṣr to sunset for evening) and answers to common questions about what to do when they are missed

The condition that makes these adhkār count: reciting with yaqīn, reflection, and the presence of the heart, as Ibn al-Qayyim states

Who is truly great? This session from the Journey to Allah through His Names series takes that question seriously, starting with the people we instinctively admire and then asking what greatness actually looks like when it belongs to Allah. Al-Kabīr means The Most Great. Al-ʿAẓīm means The Magnificent. Together, these Names point to a greatness that has no ceiling, no comparison, and no rival and this sesion helps learners begin to grasp what that means.

The session moves through reflection on Allah’s creation as a doorway to recognising His greatness: the human body, the natural world, the Majestic Throne, and the angels including the account of Angel Jibrīl عليه السلام and the narration in al-Tabarani of an angel so immense that his feet rest in the lowest earth while his neck is beneath the Throne of Allah, yet he remains in constant glorification. From there, the session turns to what it means to live with these Names, covering humility, avoiding arrogance in daily dealings, and asking Allah through His Names al-Kabīr and al-ʿAẓīm when life feels overwhelming.

This session covers:

Appreciate what Al-Kabīr & Al-ʿAẓīm mean

Understand how one can reflect on Allah’s greatness

Learn how to connect with Allah through these names

Reflect on what you have learnt and identify one practical action point

10th of Dhul Hijjah the big day of the year, the Day of Sacrifice, Yawmun-Nahr. This engaging lesson immersing young learners in the most sacred and spiritually charged day of the hajj journey through vivid first-person journal entries and rich reflections on the deeper secrets of each act of worship.

The lesson unfolds through the eyes of a pilgrim recording his experience in Mina and Makkah on this momentous day. Learners walk alongside him as he throws pebbles at the jamarat, declaring with each throw that Allah is greater than his sins, his bad habits, and his desires, just as the Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام stood firm against Shaytan in that very same place. They feel the weight and wonder of udhiyah: the sacrifice of an animal for the sake of Allah, rooted in Ibrahim عليه السلام’s extraordinary submission and carrying a timeless reminder that true worship means putting Allah first, no matter how hard the command.

Learners discover that what reaches Allah from udhiyah is not the meat or the blood, it is the taqwa in the heart. The lesson then guides them through the shaving of the head, the exit from ihram, and the breathtaking tawaf al-ifadah around the Kaʿbah: the most important tawaf of hajj, where pilgrims from every corner of the earth circle together, hearts overflowing with love and awe for Allah.

Zakah is far more than a financial obligation, it is a purification of the heart, a declaration of love for Allah above all else, and one of the pillars of Islam. This engaging lesson about zakah guiding young learners into the deeper secrets and practical workings of this important act of worship.

The lesson opens with a powerful story from Islamic history: the brave decision of Abu Bakr after the passing of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. When some Arab tribes refused to pay zakah, arguing it was no longer obligatory, Abu Bakr stood firm with remarkable conviction declaring that he would fight anyone who made a distinction between salah and zakah, for zakah is the right of wealth. Through this young learners come to understand just how seriously the Sahabah took this pillar of Islam.

The lesson then explores the deeper secrets of zakah: how it cleanses both wealth and heart, purifying the soul from greed and arrogance, and reminding the believer that all wealth is a trust from Allah. Think of a fruit that looks fresh and perfect on the outside. But inside, a tiny worm is slowly eating it. You cannot see the damage at first, but the fruit is getting spoiled. Learners are also introduced to the concept of nisab and guided through the straightforward calculation of zakah at 2.5%, using relatable, real-life scenarios.

Journey through the heart of the Qur’an with this study guide to Surah Qāf, a Makkan revelation that our beloved Prophet ﷺ would recite during Jumuʿah salah, Eid prayers, and Fajr. These comprehensive study notes invite learners to explore one of the Qur’an’s most profound chapters on the Day of Judgement and resurrection. Through clear, accessible explanations, learners discover the three powerful proofs of resurrection that Allah presents: His absolute knowledge of all things, the perfection of His creation, and the lessons embedded in history. The notes walk through all 45 verses, revealing how this surah nurtures certainty (yaqīn) in the Hereafter and builds awareness of Allah’s closeness to us, closer than our jugular vein. Learners explore the recording angels who note every word we speak, understand the four stages of life’s journey, and discover the beautiful characteristics of the people of Paradise. Perfect for madrasahs, homeschools, and Islamic study circles, this resource strengthens īmān whilst connecting to core Quranic tarbiyah values of servitude (ʿubūdiyyah), pure heart (tazkiyah), and responsibility (masʾūliyyah). Download this transformative study resource today and help Muslims develop a deeper, more meaningful relationship with the Qur’an.
