This lesson covers,

• Preparation before salah is covered as a spiritual act, including the intention behind wudu, dressing well for worship, facing the qiblah, and mentally reminding yourself of who you are about to address, before a single word of salah is spoken.
• The takbir and qiyam are explained in depth: raising the hands as an act of surrender and pushing the dunya aside, Allahu Akbar as a statement of Allah’s greatness beyond all things, and standing with lowered gaze and right hand over left in a posture of devoted humility, grounded in Surah al-Baqarah (2:238).
• The opening duʿa, isti’adhah, and basmalah are treated as three distinct spiritual acts: greeting and praising Allah, seeking protection from the one who wants to destroy the prayer, and opening with Bismillah as an act of seeking help and blessing from Allah alone.
• Qur’an recitation and ruku’ are connected: reciting calmly with tajwid, hearing your own voice, pausing to reflect on what Allah is saying in Surah al-Fatihah, then moving into ruku’ as a strong symbol of submission, praising and glorifying Allah while humbling both the body and the heart simultaneously.
• Standing up from ruku’ is presented through the adhkar of Sahih al-Bukhari, including the hadith of Rifaʿah ibn Rafiʿ in which the Prophet ﷺ described thirty-something angels racing to be first to record a companion’s words of praise, giving learners a reason to say these words with full attention.

People from a city called Madinah had come to Makkah, heard the message of Islam, and accepted it. They told our beloved Prophet ﷺ: the Muslims would be safe with them. They promised to protect them. So Muhammad ﷺ told the Muslims to go. He stayed behind a little longer, making sure everyone got out safely. Then Allah, The All-Aware, sent Angel Jibril عليه السلام to warn him: the enemies were planning to kill him. It was time to leave.

He told his closest friend, Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه. “Allah has given me permission to leave for Madinah.” Abu Bakr asked if he could come. “Yes,” said our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

That night, the two of them quietly slipped away. They stopped to rest in the cave of Thawr. The enemies followed their footprints through the sand and came right to the entrance of the cave. Abu Bakr felt the fear close in. Our beloved Prophet ﷺ said: “Don’t worry. Allah is with us.” The enemies turned back without looking inside. After three days in the cave with Abu Bakr’s children and his servant secretly bringing them food and news they set off for Madinah again.

The lesson pauses here with a question every child can sit with: what do you do to feel better when you’re worried?

Angel Jibril brings more verses of the Qur’an to the Prophet ﷺ, who shares the message with those closest to him. Khadijah رضي الله عنها believes him at once. She knew he always spoke the truth. She becomes the first Muslim woman. ʿAli رضي الله عنه, the Prophet’s cousin, saw them praying one day and asks what they were doing. The Prophet ﷺ explains, and ten-year-old ʿAli رضي الله عنه replies: “I want to join you!” He becomes the first Muslim child. Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه, the Prophet’s closest friend, hears the message and believes straight away. He becomes the first Muslim man. Then Allah commands the Prophet ﷺ to take the message further. He climbs Mount Safa and calls out to the people of Makkah: “Worship Allah alone!” Not everyone listens. Abu Lahab, the Prophet’s uncle, throws sand and turns away in anger.

The three activities stay close to the lesson’s heart. The first is a shahadah certificate: learners write their own name, trace the Arabic words of the shahadah, and a teacher signs at the bottom beneath the pledge “I will always follow the truth!” The second gives learners three award badges first Muslim man, first Muslim child, first Muslim woman and asks them to write the correct name in each. The third is a role-play: learners imagine telling their family “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger,” then answer the questions their family asks back Who is Allah? Who is Muhammad ﷺ? What do you do to show you are a Muslim?

The lesson opens with a powerful story from Islamic history: the brave decision of Abu Bakr after the passing of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. When some Arab tribes refused to pay zakah, arguing it was no longer obligatory, Abu Bakr stood firm with remarkable conviction declaring that he would fight anyone who made a distinction between salah and zakah, for zakah is the right of wealth. Through this young learners come to understand just how seriously the Sahabah took this pillar of Islam.

The lesson then explores the deeper secrets of zakah: how it cleanses both wealth and heart, purifying the soul from greed and arrogance, and reminding the believer that all wealth is a trust from Allah. Think of a fruit that looks fresh and perfect on the outside. But inside, a tiny worm is slowly eating it. You cannot see the damage at first, but the fruit is getting spoiled. Learners are also introduced to the concept of nisab and guided through the straightforward calculation of zakah at 2.5%, using relatable, real-life scenarios.
