Thousands of years ago, a Prophet stood alone in a barren valley and called humanity to the House of Allah. That call still echoes today. Hajj: Answering the Call of Ibrahim is an engaging lesson inviting young learners to discover the fifth pillar of Islam through the extraordinary life of the Khalil of Allah, the Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام.
The lesson opens by establishing hajj as the fifth pillar of Islam, a once-in-a-lifetime obligation for every Muslim who is healthy, financially able, and for whom the journey is safe. Drawing on the Qur’anic command from Surah Aal ʿImran, learners are anchored in the divine obligation before being transported into one of the most moving stories in all of Islamic history.
Young learners follow the trials of the Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام through a desert valley with no water, no trees, and no people, where he left his beloved wife Hajar علیہا السلام and baby Ismaʿil عليه السلام in complete trust and submission to Allah. They witness Hajar علیہا السلام’s breathtaking determination as she ran between the hills of Safa and Marwah, and the miraculous appearance of Zamzam water. They then encounter the greatest test of all: the command to sacrifice his son Ismaʿil عليه السلام and how both father and son submitted with unwavering courage, driving Shaytan away with stones before Allah sent a ram from Paradise in place of Ismaʿil عليه السلام. Finally, learners discover how Ibrahim عليه السلام and Ismaʿil عليه السلام built the Kaʿbah together and how Ibrahim عليه السلام’s call to hajj continues to draw millions of hearts to Makkah to this very day.
