What Is Fiqh?

Help young learners understand fiqh (Islamic law) through this enlightening lesson. They learn fiqh’s definition, discover the Qur’an and Sunnah as its sources, and explore the four main madhhabs whilst learning to respect all schools of Islamic jurisprudence.

Description

This lesson nurtures ʿubūdiyyah (servitude to Allah) by teaching children that fiqh comes from two main sources: the Qur’an (the word of Allah) and the Sunnah (the actions and sayings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ). Young Muslims learn that Allah sent the Qur’an as a special guide, and the Prophet ﷺ taught us the details of how to live according to it.

The lesson explains that the rules in the Qur’an and Sunnah are the best because Allah is al-Khaliq (The Creator) who created us and knows what is best for us. Children learn the importance of accepting all of Allah’s rules, not just the ones we like, as His laws are full of blessings and wisdom.
