Hajj: A Journey of a Lifetime – Session 4 – The Greatest Day

Session 4 brings learners to the greatest day of ḥajj, the 10th of Dhul Ḥijjah, the Day of Sacrifice, unpacking the profound secrets behind its four key actions and the spiritual transformation they carry. This session challenges learners to go beyond the outward ritual and ask the deeper question: what am I truly willing to sacrifice for Allah?

In Session 4, learners will:

• Explore the secrets of stoning the Jamarah, understanding the enemy within and without, and how this powerful act is a declaration of war against Shayṭān.
• Reflect on the meaning of sacrifice, connecting the story of Prophet Ibrāhīm عليه السلام and his son to the personal sacrifices Allah asks of every believer today.
• Understand the purpose of qurbānī, recognising that what reaches Allah is never the meat or blood, but the taqwā that drives the act.
• Uncover the secrets of shaving and trimming, visualising sins falling away, the ego being stripped, and the soul being made ready to enter the House of Allah.
• Discover the deeper meaning of ṭawāf al-ifāḍah, going to Allah with a heart bursting with love and emerging with a heart that is truly free.
• Reflect on the saʿy, carrying forward the lessons of Hajar علیہا السلام and staying focused on the greater purpose of the journey.
• Map the full ḥajj timeline, consolidating everything learnt across the sessions into a clear and connected picture of this once-in-a-lifetime act of worship.
