Discovering Shaʿban

• Introduces learners to Shaʿban as the eighth month of the Islamic calendar, the month before Ramadan
• Explains how Shaʿban is like the sunnah prayers, helping us get into the mode of salah and prepare us for the fard prayers
• Emphasises starting preparation now, both spiritually and physically, to make this Ramadan the best

Three Virtues of Shaʿban

• Discovers how our beloved Prophet ﷺ fasted in Shaʿban more than any other month, as narrated by ʿA’ishah (radiy Allahu ʿanha)
• Learns that actions are raised to Allah daily (morning and evening), weekly (Monday and Thursday), and annually in Shaʿban, and that the Prophet ﷺ liked for his annual performance review to correspond with him being in a state of fasting
• Explores how Allah looks down on the middle night of Shaʿban and forgives all of His creation, except anyone who commits shirk or harbours hatred

Practical Preparation Activities

• Completes the Shaʿban Challenge Bingo with nine activities: extra fasting, extra Quran reading, start praying at night, visit a relative, adjust sleep routine, get Eid cards and gifts ready, Quran memorisation, increase tawbah, and talk to parents about zakat
• Writes letters to welcome Ramadan, making pledges to treat this as their best Ramadan yet
• Discovers the year-long value of Ramadan: the Sahabah would supplicate to Allah for six months to allow them to reach Ramadan, then supplicate another six months to accept it from them
• Memorises the duʿa for seeing the new moon, asking Allah to let the moon pass over with blessings, iman, safety, Islam, and the ability to act on actions that He loves
